A Great Success: Automotive Day powered by Implementation Flow Network

Together with our partners from the Implementation Flow Network, we organised our first event focusing on the automotive industry on 9 July: Automotive Day! On this day, everything revolved around agility, SAFe®, AI-based innovations, safety and compliance in the automotive industry. Around 100 participants gathered ideas, took part in sometimes controversial discussions, networked with each other - and ultimately made the Automotive Day a complete success.

The Implementation Flow Network is an association of various companies that jointly offer all the services and tools you need to realise true business agility with your company.

Welcome and Opening Keynote

After the welcome by our moderators Peter Weingärtner and Felix Rüssel, Joe Justice, leading expert for agility at Agile@Tesla, provided a lively discussion with his keynote. His topic ‘TeslaSpeed: What Elon Musk would do first if he bought a German OEM’ was all about the radical reorganisation of the automotive industry and the replacement of humans with artificial intelligence. This radical approach was astonishing and provided valuable impetus for the subsequent discussion.

Radical ideas and lively discussions

After this successful start, the second event room (the ‘workshop’) opened, where Joe's previous presentation was initially discussed in depth. The first half of the day continued to be characterised by the topic of AI. On the main stage, Robert Seebauer (Porsche AG) dealt with the question of how AI can support day-to-day business. At the same time, Julius Ollesch (Google) spoke in the next room about data-driven decision-making options with AI for accelerated product development.

Afternoon Session: Focus on Safety/Compliance and Scaled Product Development

After a varied lunch with pleasant conversations, the day continued with two further key topics: ‘Safety/Compliance’ and ‘Scaled product development’. Presentations such as ‘Functional Safety in SAFe® with ISO26262’, ‘Continuous Security Testing’ or ‘Mountain or Molehill? Continuous Security Testing’ or ’Mountain or Molehill? Adopting SAFe® in the Automotive Industry’. A highlight of the agenda: the remote session ‘Complexity meets Agility: Disrupting Automotive Through Faster Innovation’ by Harry Koehnemann.

Final Discussion and Conclusion of the Day

The event entered the home stretch with an in-depth final discussion, in which moderator Felix Rüssel summarised the day's ideas and put them up for discussion. His question to the participants: What impact will the day's findings have on their work - and therefore on the future of the automotive industry? After the final discussion, the successful Automotive Day ended with a drink together.
